Bell Helicopter is to take part in the Monaco Yacht Show 2012, with a Bell 429 being put on display aboard one of the largest yachts afloat in Port Hercules.
The Monaco Yacht Show, held Sept. 19-22, will see the 429 in corporate configuration as it is showcased on the helipad of the 220-foot. (67.15 meter) superyacht, Garcon.
“Participating in this event gives us an opportunity to talk with our existing and potential customers, learn more about their plans and share our mutual goals for the future,” said Danny Maldonado, Bell Helicopter’s executive vice president of commercial sales and marketing.
The Monaco Yacht Show is one of the most important events for the captains of the yacht industry. The prestigious event will host 500 exhibitors representing innovative products and luxury services from a variety of sectors. With 28,000 visitors representing nearly 40 countries at the event in 2011, even more are expected at this year’s show.
“The Bell 429, our new light twin displayed at the Monaco Yacht Show, and the Bell 407GX can both be easily embarked on yachts and provide owners the flexibility to transport guests rapidly from an airport directly to the yacht to spend more time afloat,” said Patrick Moulay, Bell Helicopter’s managing director in Europe. “With its spacious cabin and its exceptional speed, the Bell 429 has been particularly successful among the VIP and yacht owners’ community. We see a tremendous potential for more sales in this market segment,” added Moulay.

One of the distinctive marks of a premium quality yacht can be seen in the character of its interior wood and the level of craftsmanship employed in installation and finish.  Fine quality woodworking and best quality yachts have had an indelible relationship since people first took to the sea.  Wood gives a yacht much of its character.  The quality and finish of a yacht’s woodwork is likely the first thing a person notices when first stepping aboard.

You will not find finer woodworking than on a yacht built by Marquis.  And, Marquis is unique because we accept commissions for custom built yachts with interiors designed and finished to the owners specifications.

All of the cabinetry, doors and bulkheads on a Marquis yacht are crafted by highly skilled Marquis Yacht woodworkers.  Marquis does not subcontract or outsource this work.  Because we are an integrated ship yard, every yacht can be constructed using wood species the owners personally select.

We start with highest quality milled lumber so EVERY wooden component is custom made specifically for that particular yacht. Our craftsmen carefully inspect each board for color, grain pattern and best use within the vessel.  A Marquis can be constructed using virtually any species of wood. People who have commissioned a custom crafted Marquis have utilized traditional hardwoods like walnut, cherry and oak and more exotic wood like African Zebrano.  We have also built very unique interiors using a combination of different woods in various areas of the yacht.  Owners may also choose from a variety of hand rubbed, satin or high gloss finishes. Floor plans and space allocation can also be modified to suit an owner’s preference and need.

With Marquis the owner has input into creating the perfect yacht that truly represents their personal sense of style. It is a unique attribute of Marquis’ integrated ship yard and has high value when commissioning that yacht you always dreamed of.

One of the most appreciated benefits of moving up to a premium quality yacht constructed by Marquis Yachts is the ability to have the Marquis American ship yard build the yacht with appointments to suit the new owner’s personal style. When building a custom Marquis, most people start with the yacht’s exterior surfaces. Because the Marquis ship yard is a fully integrated yard, complete with its own ‘yacht sized’ high-tech paint application center, a customer can select from a wide array of patterns and colors in which to finish the hull and superstructure.

Only the finest brands and formulas of finish are offered and they are applied by the most skilled yacht finish craftsmen in the industry. Applying the high- tech coating on a Marquis Yacht is an art onto itself. The striking metal flake paint requires experience, patience and a very skilled hand during formulation and application. The result is a custom yacht with deep, durable, luxurious finish in a pattern and color that sets it apart from all others.

Click below to view a few recently completed yachts that portray the variety of exterior finishes available to a person commissioning a new yacht from the Marquis ship yard in America. Exterior finishes are only the start of the many custom appointments the Marquis ship yard can offer.

Sanlorenzo have launched superyacht Achilles, following an impressive late night transport from the city of Massa-Carrara, one of three Sanlorenzo shipyard locations, in addition to Ameglia and Viareggio. A specialist team drove Achilles to the Carrara Marina, across a road that rarely sees yachts of this size.
The 46Steel Achilles is the fourth unit that has been delivered in the 46 metre line, from a total of six that have been sold.

Was the S-76D worth the wait? The short answer is… yes.
You don’t just fly somewhere in an S-76–you arrive. It’s like the first time you slip into the back of a Rolls-Royce or check into a Ritz-Carlton. It’s as sleek and timeless as anything off the drawing board of Italy’s Pininfarina, the renowned automotive design house. And with a cruising speed of 155 knots, the S-76 remains one of the fastest twin-engine helicopters out there. The “D” was supposed to improve on this legacy with more powerful and fuel-efficient engines, more useful load, rotor blades with icing protection and intuitive avionics that would safely allow the helicopter to be flown single-pilot in instrument flight conditions.
The new Silencer cabin shell keeps it noticeably quieter. Cabin options have kept pace with the times: LED lighting, satphone, monitors, beverage drawers and snack nooks, DVD and Blu-ray players, high-end speakers, luxurious leathers and expensive veneers. Seating configurations are from four to six–everything from two upholstered benches facing each other to opulent individual captain’s chairs. Cabin volume is 204 cubic feet, slightly larger than that of most entry-level jets. Each side of the cabin has a massive hinged door for easy entry/egress.
Corporate operators who want plush seating for four to six can grab one for under $12 million. And for that price, you get a lot. Sikorsky has orders for more than 100 S-76Ds and plans to build 24 to 36 per year.

The learjet 85 is the biggest thing to come out of wichita since the 1980sThursday, April 19, 2012 - 10:45am
This year, Bombardier will launch one of the most ambitious flight-test programs in business aviation history. The Learjet 85 is scheduled to enter service next year and as many as five conforming aircraft could make their first flights in the coming months.
The 85 will be the first mostly composite aircraft certified under the stringent requirements of Part 25 of the Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and breaks ground on several fronts: creating a new category of business jet between midsize and super-midsize; featuring a Euro-style cabin that draws heavily from the luxury automobile industry; utilizing composites for the fuselage and wings; and stitching together a complex global supply chain that must function perfectly for the company to bring the aircraft to market on time and within its performance and weight targets.

Lammouche, seen here near Saint Tropez, is a 46 metres trideck semi-wide body displacement yacht, with a high tensile steel hull and aluminium superstructure. She was launched in February 2010 by Sanlorenzo, and delivered to her owner in the early summer of 2010. Lammouche's exterior design is by Viareggio Division Style, a department of Sanlorenzo. Lammouche is powered by two Caterpillar 2,040hp 3512B engines, which allow for a 17 knot top speed, and a cruising speed of 15 knots, which gives her a 2,000 miles. Lower the speed to 10 knots, and her range rises to 5,000 miles.
